Congo Square Theatre Company has announced the cast and creative team for August Wilson’s JITNEY.
Directed by Cheryl Lynn Bruce, the production features Ensemble Members Ronald L. Conner (Booster) and Anthony Irons (Turnbo) with Malcolm Banks (Youngblood), Adrian Byrd (Philmore), Ramissa Ma’at (Rena), Lee Palmer (Becker), Ernest Perry (Fielding), and Frederick Paul Williams (Shealy).
The design team includes Razor Wintercastle (Stage Manager), Andrei Onegin (Scenic Design), Kate Setzer Kamphausen (Costume Design), Richard Norwood (Lighting Design), Brandon Reed (Sound Design), and Jeremiah Barr (Props Designer).
“To me, August Wilson’s JITNEY is The Black Man’s Struggle writ large, played out in the humblest of arenas–a Black Pittsburgh neighborhood under siege.” comments Bruce. “Becker’s storefront, an outlaw outpost if there ever was one, shelters souls and fellow travelers, desperately trying to make it the best way/the onliest way they can.”
JITNEY runs January 5th – February 11th. For more information visit congosquaretheatre.org.
