Citing lackluster sales and fundraising, The Hypocrites are cutting their 20th anniversary season short. Productions of THE HO– USE OF MARTIN GUERRE and LAS MENINAS, planned for the spring, have been canceled. The current production of CINDERELLA AT THE THEATRE OF POTATOES will close on December 30th, a week early, and their production of WIT, slated to open late January, has been cut back by several weeks, closing now on February 19th.

The season opened with Jaclyn Backhaus’s YOU ON THE MOORS NOW, a re-imagining of feminist literary heroes, which our Hilary Holbrook “left feeling a bit perplexed,” but it was followed by a seemingly sure-fire Cinderella adaptation that was a PerformInk Critic’s Pick.

Refunds are being made at the place of purchase.
