Lyric Opera and Musicians End Strike with Multi-Year Deal

Lyric Opera and the Chicago Federation of Musicians Local #10-208 (CFM) today reached a multi-year labor agreement that will put an end to the strike that has canceled several performances this week. Details are currently unavailable, as the agreement is still subject to ratification from union members, but the new contract will run through the 2020/2022 season.

Lyric recently reached new agreements with stagehands and performers that reduced overall labor costs, as the opera attempts to address budget challenges. CFM initially refused any cuts, refuting Lyric’s deficit claims.
