Frequent Chicago theater collaborators Erica Weiss and Caitlin Parrish have landed the LA Film Festival for the premiere of their Chicago-shot independent film THE VIEW FROM TALL, an adaptation of one of Parrish’s plays. Co-directed by the duo, the film follows 17-year-old Justine (Chicago actor and Red Tape Ensemble Member Amanda Drinkall) who finds an unlikely lifeline in her wheelchair-bound therapist (Gift Theatre Artistic Director Michael Patrick Thornton). The film also features music by five-time Jeff Award-winner Lindsay Jones.

Parrish, now living in Los Angeles, is the executive story editor for CBS’s SUPERGIRL. Her hit play THE DOWNPOUR (Jeff Nominee for Best Production, Best Director, Best New Work, and Best Lead Actress) premiered with Route 66 Theatre last year, directed by Weiss.

Weiss was the 2014 recipient of The Goodman’s Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship, and was the Associate Artistic Director of Route 66 Theatre Company for four years, where she directed and co-wrote A TWIST OF WATER with Parrish, which saw a commercial transfer to the Mercury Theater and subsequently opened Off-Broadway at 59E59.

Weiss and Parrish’s original television pilot RED LINE is also in development with Warner Brothers Studios.
