Brian Posen Steps Down at Stage 773

Updated 11/17 at 7:45pm

Brian Posen, Creative Director for Stage 773 will leave his post amidst social media accusations of inappropriate behavior, according to his Facebook page.

“I feel that due to the comments online about me being shared at this time, I am more of a distraction right now from the great and important work that is put forth by the many talented individuals that are a part of Stage 773.”

“Recently, there have been some individuals who have stated negative things about me on social media maintaining that I was inappropriate,” Posen continued. “I want to say strongly that if I have ever unintentionally offended anyone by saying anything improper, which in turn hurt or offended anyone, I profusely apologize. That was certainly not my intent as I have enormous respect for artists. I would never intentionally use my position in an unethical or unprofessional manner.”

It’s not clear exactly what events or comments Posen is referring to, but a source tells PerformInk that executive level individuals at Stage 773 have been recently inquiring into the online rumors.

The Chicago Reader is reporting that Posen was suspended indefinitely from his position as program head of the Second City Training Center in March after complaints from former students accusing him of harassment.

Posen’s name has also been removed from the 773 website as a member of the Board of Directors. His sister remains as the Board Chair.

Stage 773 representatives were not immediately available for comment. PerformInk will update this article with any new developments.
