Chicago Improv Festival Shutters

Chicago Improv Productions has announced it will retire the Chicago Improv Festival. The annual week of improv shows and workshops first launched 20 years ago.

“Over the past 20 years we have achieved all we set out to,” said Executive Director, Jonathan Pitts. “I’m proud that we brought improvisers from 27 different countries to perform at CIF over the years, and that we got to recognize leaders in the art form for their work and contributions to our culture. Additionally, our partnerships with our local improv theaters ensured that visitors got to see the best improv in the world at the best improv venues. We built something truly special together.”

The organization says that the website will be turned into an online archive documenting the 20 years of the festival with articles, photos and videos.

Chicago Improv Productions will continue to host the annual College Improv Tournament, the Chicago Podcast Festival, and education outreach programs and workshops for students throughout the Chicago area.
