Cuckoo’s Theater Project Announces 17/18 Season

The Cuckoo’s Theater Project has announced its 4th Season centered around “Choices and Consequences.”

The four-production season begins in September with DISTRACTED, followed by TICK, TICK…BOOM! in November, SHE KILLS MONSTERS in March, concluding with MEASURE FOR MEASURE in June.

The Cuckoo’s Theater Project’s 17/18 Season (from the press release): 

DISTRACTED, a dark comedy by Lisa Loomer, tells the story of a young couple and their son. His teachers and team of doctors say he has ADHD, Dad says he’s “just being a kid”, and Mama has turned to medical textbooks and meditation. DISTRACTED takes a look at mental health care in the US through the lens of two parents who just want the best for their kid.
September 8 – October 7, 2017.

TICK, TICK…BOOM! is an autobiographical musical by the late Jonathan Larson. The story follows Johnny, an aspiring musical
theatre composer who begins to worry about aging and lack of success as he nears his 30th birthday.
Filled with memorable music, this show takes you on the journey that led to Larson writing his musical theater mainstay, RENT. November 16 – December 17, 2017.

SHE KILLS MONSTERS, a dramatic comedy by Qui Nguyen, begins when Agnes’ teenage sister, Tilly, has died. But that’s only the beginning of the story. As Agnes is cleaning out Tilly’s room, she discovers a notebook that contains a Dungeons and Dragons quest that Tilly wrote. Agnes unknowingly stumbles into a magical world full of jello monsters, evil cheerleader succubi,
and heroic quests as she learns a side of her sister that she never knew.
March 16 – April 21, 2018.

MEASURE FOR MEASURE, adapted and directed by TCTP Company Member Sara Carranza, tells the story of a land abandoned by its leader and the strict laws of old being enforced by the new government. Isabella, a future woman of the cloth, must choose between her faith or her family when her brother is found guilty of a crime punishable by death: premarital sex. This production takes this classic and weaves in the culture and vibrance of modern day India.
June 15 – July 21, 2018
