Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced the design team and partial cast for its spring production of WEST SIDE STORY.

Directed by Francesca Zambello in a new co-production with the Houston Grand Opera and Glimmerglass Festival, the cast to-date includes Corey Cott (Tony), Mikaela Bennett (Maria), Amanda Castro (Anita), Brett Thiele (Riff), and Manuel Stark Santos (Bernardo).

Cott’s Broadway credits include BANDSTAND, GIGI and the NEWSIES. Bennett was recently seen as Maria in the BBC Proms concert presentation of WEST SIDE STORY, replacing Sierra Boggess who withdrew after complaints of whitewashing.

The design team includes set design by Peter J. Davison, costumes design by Jessica Jahn and lighting design by Mark McCullough. Lyric’s production will feature Jerome Robbins’ original choreography, recreated by Julio Monge.

WEST SIDE STORY runs May 3 – June 2. For more information visit lyricopera.org.
