Schedule Set for Broken Nose Theatre’s BECHDEL FEST 4

Broken Nose Theatre has announced the lineup for this years BECHDEL FEST 4: THE BOILING POINT. The festival will feature new female-driven stories, all passing the Bechdel-Wallace Test.

This year’s iteration is presented in association with the Pride Arts Center. “Since taking over the space previously owned by Profiles Theatre,” says Associate Artistic Director Elise Spoerlein, “The Pride Arts Center has been redesigned to be a safe space for artists. We are so grateful that Pride Arts Center was interested in joining us to present this year’s Bechdel Fest — what better way to ‘let the light in’ than with a festival of new plays featuring an ensemble of such strong women and strong female characters to match?”

BECHDEL FEST 4: THE BOILING POINT will feature:

1 IN 7 by Beth Kander; directed by Angela Forshee.
An interview between a new mother and a prospective nanny goes less-than-smoothly.

THIS IS TO MOTHER YOU by Grant Varjas; directed by Elyse Dolan.
Four sisters laugh, argue and grapple in the hours following a matriarch’s funeral.

TUESDAY by Rebecca Kling; directed by JD Caudill.
Two trans women toke up and try to make sense of an anti-trans ‘bathroom bill’ that threatens to change their lives forever.

In this lyrical piece, a woman reflects on her life as a dancer and the loss of her leg in the wake of the 2010 Haitian earthquake.

KISSING FIRE by Elaine Romero; directed by Jenn Adams.
In this surreal new work, a pair of fireflies and water droplets prepare for the encroaching Winter.

EVERYONE’S A CRITIC by Michele Stine; directed by Iris Sowalt.
An aspiring chef confronts her roommate, a restaurant critic with a savage reputation.
