Jump inside the brains of Chicago theater artists as we ask them 10 questions that were in no way inspired by Inside the Actor’s Studio.

What’s the one role/show you’ve always wanted to work on that you haven’t yet?

Hmm. That’s a tough one, but I’d say Nathan Detroit in GUYS AND DOLLS. That was the show that made me want to be an actor. I was in 6th grade and saw a high school production of it. Also: Max in THE PRODUCERS

What current production, besides one of your own, are you most excited about?

Damn. I’m really glad to be working but was so sad to miss LIZZIE with Firebrand and TRAITOR closes today at A Red Orchid. I really want to see THE WOLVES, CABARET, NICE GIRL (which I sadly will miss) and RAGTIME.

If you couldn’t be in theater, what career would you have chosen?

Lawyer.

What quote or saying do people spout but is really complete B.S.?

I’ll say: “Ours is not to wonder why” (I had help on this answer)

What would you name your boat if you had one?

I’LL NEVER MAKE IT. Awful, I know.

What will finally break the internet?

Trump’s impeachment.

What well-known fictional character would be the most boring to meet in real life?

Garfield (my son Sam helped me with this answer)

What is a play or musical that you cannot stand (CATS is not an acceptable answer)?

But CATS is my answer! Ok. I’ve only seen it once but I’d say JOSEPH as I had no idea why I was watching it.

What is a play or musical that you love (CATS is not an acceptable answer)?

I’m going to say MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG. It’s one of my all-time favorites. Porchlight’s production is lovely and that last scene with Frank, Charlie and Mary on the roof gave me the same feeling as the end of THE LAST JEDI when the little kid looks up at the stars AND—the movement that’s happening with our youth in this country after Parkland. Our children are our future and they’ve got us covered.

What are you reading, watching or listening to right now?

Reading: DIARY by Chuck Palahniuk; Watching: Season 2 of SEARCH PARTY and a LOT of baseball; Listening: I hear music on the radio that I like, Shazam it and put it on a playlist called 2018. So I listen to that playlist a lot—and Fantasy Baseball podcasts.
