Haven Theatre Announces 2nd Annual DIRECTOR’S HAVEN Line-Up

Haven Theatre Company has announced the line-up for their 2nd annual DIRECTOR’S HAVEN. Billed as an emerging directors showcase, the DIRECTOR’S HAVEN will run October 28 – November 9, at The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. Focused on putting early-career directors at the forefront, the showcase will consists of three one-act plays produced and performed each night, each helmed by one emerging director. Each director chooses the production they will direct and is partnered with a mentor in the form of an established Chicago theater director.

This year’s DIRECTOR’S HAVEN builds on what Haven launched last year with an incredible roster of new directors and mentors,” says Artistic Director Josh Sobel. “The Director’s Haven gives the next generation of directors a rare opportunity to live and learn more about their craft in a supportive environment.”

The discovery of improv sends teenaged Sophie on a rapid pace journey towards adulthood. With constant offers from others to help develop her relationships, sexuality and sense of self, Sophie struggles to decipher what choices are really her own.

In 1726, England, a bright and privileged young woman embarks on a sexual odyssey with a sole focus: whenever her beau grows bored of her, she dons another disguise to trick her fugitive lover back into bed. Told through movement, dialogue and song, Love in a Maze asks: When it comes to sex who has the power, and what must be done to obtain it?”

An international college student must decide between returning to his city of birth or moving to the country he has come to love. But when his father unexpectedly passes away, his entire family is forced to confront the consequences of loss and leaving.
