Organic Theater Company has announced the cast and production team for the world premiere of WHY DO YOU ALWAYS WEAR BLACK?

Based on the works of Anton Chekhov, and directed by Anna Gelman, the ensemble-devised piece features Kat Christensen, Nyssa Lowenstein, Ariana Silvan-Grau, and Taylor Wisham.

The production team includes Julia Rufo (Associate Director), Angela Kring (Stage Manager), Angela Enos (Costume Designer), Tony Reimer (Sound Co-Designer), Morgan Hunter (Sound Co-Designer), Pauline Oleksy (Scenic Designer), and Ryan Breneisen (Lighting Designer).

From the press release: “An original work featuring the women of Anton Chekhov’s plays who confront the joy, despair, and absurdity of being a woman in 19th century Russia as well as contemporary America. This innovative, theatrical work weaves together Chekhov’s world and our own modern backwardness, with a healthy dose of radical feminism and sock puppets.”
