Porchlight Music Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for the Chicago premiere of Disney’s “Freaky Friday,” running April 10 – May 24, 2020, at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn.

Tom Kitt, Brian Yorkey, and Bridget Carpenter’s stage adaptation of the body-swapping book and films was developed in regional theaters in 2017 by Disney Theatrical Productions, who opted to release it for licensing without giving it a Broadway run. Mary Rodgers penned the book of the same name in 1972, about an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies and have one day to put things right again before the mom’s wedding. It was adapted for the screen in 1976 and 2003.

Porchlight’s production will star Cory Goodrich as mother Katherine, and Maya Lou Hlava as her daughter Ellie. Tammy Mader directs, with music direction by Linda Madonia and choreography by Shanna VanDerwerker. Brenda Didier was originally slated to direct but had to back out due to a conflict.

The cast also includes Christopher Wayland, Ethan Warren, Ian Michael Pinski, Joe Scott, Ty Schirmer, Derek Fawcett, Ziare Paul-Emile, Erin Parker, MacKay Whalen, Myrrh Gobenciong, Jenna Schoppe, Jared D. M. Grant, Nina Jayashankar, Jayla Williams-Craig, Natalie Wiley, Jonathan Warner, Shane Roberie and Catherine Reyes McNamara.

The production team includes Rueben Echoles (costume designer), Denise Karczewski (lighting designer), Kristen Martino (set designer), Robert Hornbostel (sound designer), Matthew Chase (sound design assistant), Jackie Robinson (production stage manager), Mary Zanger (assistant stage manager) Audrey Kleine (assistant stage manager), Sean Michael Mohler (assistant stage manager), Austin Kopsa (ASM swing), Bri Wolfe (child supervisor/ASM swing), Jamie Davis (audio engineer), Samantha Treible (wardrobe supervisor), Rachel West (master electrician), Catherine Allen (production manager) and Bek Lambrecht (technical director).

Tickets are $39 – $66, available at PorchlightMusicTheatre.org or by calling the box office, 773.777.9884.
