Mercury Theater Chicago has announced it will produce BUNNY, BUNNY: GILDA RADNER A SORT OF LOVE STORY, directed by Warner Crocker. Based on the book of the same name, former Saturday Night Live writer Alan Zweibel recalls his eccentric kinship spanning 14 years with the beloved SNL star.

Zweibel won multiple Emmy, Writers Guild of America, and TV Critics awards for his work in television, which also includes “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” (which he co-created and produced), “Monk,” “PBS’s Great Performances,“ and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Zweibel was a life-long friend to Radner, and the play, published in 1994, follows their “curious bond, a relationship that was always emotional but never physical.”

BUNNY, BUNNY: GILDA RADNER A SORT OF LOVE STORY will run February 9 – April 1. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Gilda’s Club.
